A Finer End, set in Glastonbury, England, is one of my favorite three or four in this very good series. The setting is part of why I favor the book, because Glastonbury is a tremendously interesting and historical place. The author always involves the reader in her settings through her descriptions and the great maps printed in the end papers.5/5(2). A Finer End by Deborah Crombie is a Bantam/ Random House publication. This series never fails to surprise me-Veering away from the traditional British mystery format of previous installments, this seventh book in the Kincaid and James series, takes on an unusual supernatural tint.4/5.

A FINER END by Deborah Crombie is the 7th title in the Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James mystery series. I quite liked this book and thought Ms. Crombie weaved the mythology, local lore, Arthurian legends, monastic life, and history into a very readable, tense, contemporary mystery.

I especially loved the map and the quotes which introduced each chapter/5(). "A Finer End" is a psychological mystery that is also rich in history, spirituality and romance. The mystery is intriguing and satisfying, with enough red herrings to keep the reader guessing until the end.

I recommend "A Finer End" for fans of atmospheric British police procedurals.5/5(5).
